I'm off to deliver a keynote address at the Second Int'l Conference on Social Entrepreneurship, Systems Thinking & Complexity. The address starts w/ John Dewey in the kitchen, moves to a discussion of 17th century robots and ends with the relation between the happy plumber and social transformation.

Implicit in this charity ad from 1943: the charity is merely a conduit, with the entire contribution going directly to the beneficiaries. The conduit metaphor is compelling and often successful, but it also sets up charities for severe and often counterproductive criticism when attention shifts to expenditures on infrastructure.

So there's this wheel in the bottom of my apartment building. I've known it's there for years, but a few months ago I finally turned it--only to find that my building had gone back in time.
But hey, I'm back, writing on occasion about social enterprisey things for Change.org, stoking the design & identity flames at the BofG, blurbing on Twitter and working on some nifty projects pertaining to truth, justice and robots.
